Grenades Usage and Questions Answered
So not many people are a huge fan of these explosive little throw toys....
Maybe learning a little more about them will help you love them!! Or at least make it easier to lvl!
The amount of rep you get is based on the amount of damage you do for any weapon (which is why less skill points on a skill will give you higher reps but a weaker blow). Since nades do so much damage in one hit even with only one skill point, the rep is considerably less.
Lvl your nades as soon as you get them. Some people suggest dropping everything and mastering nades while you're still low lvl. It's not such a bad idea even when you've figured out how to get maximum rep and control your nades with ease.
Use your right mouse button (click and hold) to AIM your nades. This is something you will need to practice with to get just right but you have your enemy in your sights as soon as the little red circle is highlighted at their feet. Even if you don't hit them directly they will come running.
Also on the subject of aiming, you don't need to directly hit your enemy to do damage. You can hit off to the side to avoid hitting another enemy who is standing too close. This will take practice to figure out exactly what you can get away with.
THE BEST ENEMIES TO USE NADES ON are other naders, voodoo users, and dagger throwers. They will usually stand the right distance away for you to hit them without blowing yourself up. If they're too close then back up a little or angle your camera upwards with the right mouse button.
YOU CAN BLOW YOURSELF UP WITH NADES!!! If your enemy or another pirate are standing in front of you too close you will hit yourself and you can send yourself straight to jail between your enemies hits and your own!! The hits to yourself are much smaller then the ones dealt to your enemy but I've seen many pirates go down this way.
If a fellow pirate is throwing nades stay out of the way!!! They can't hurt you but if you stand too close they will blow themselves up and often times will do no damage to their enemy. In other words... GET OUT THE WAY!!! LOL
The best places to lvl your nades are in back beach on Padres and in Tormenta with the urchins and molusks. Watch your aim!!! Otherwise you could take on more than you bargained for!!
Each nade has a different area of damage range. Stink pots have the widest area of damage and are best for larger groups or an enemy that is further away.
You can throw your nades faster if you hit the number as you click your mouse button to throw. (i.e. button mashing 2 on your keyboard and your left mouse button will rapidly throw stink pots.) This is good to use when you're in trouble with too many enemies but if you're hitting yourself it will give you less ability to regenerate health between hits so keep an eye on it!!
(Button mashing is when you press a button rapidly over and over again.)
Hope this helps!! I'll leave more tips if I remember any and feel free to add more if you have some of your own!

VERY HELPFUL HINTS, MEG!
Here's a couple more ideas to help with the struggle against grenade leveling.
Kings Head is a really, really good spot to train your nades when you have lower level grenades. Stand behind the white fence and throw at the soldiers congregated in the middle of the field. Be careful not to stand too close to the fence because the enemy will stab you with their bayonets. But be just as careful to not stand too far away from the fence or else the soldiers will run through and attack you. It might take you a try to two to figure out just where to stand, but you're sure to level those low level nades fast on Kings Head!
Oh, and one last hint. When you aquire smoke grenades, you'll get more rep when you use them even though they seem a total waste of time!
